Vinicius Junior spoke to MadridistaReal before Real Madrid’s Champions League game against PSG. The young Brazilian forward discussed his relationship with other players in the dressing room and how Ancelotti is helping him to become a better player.
Vinicius on Cristiano Ronaldo: “I had his posters on my wall when I was little. An idol for me.”
Vinicius on Toni kroos
Vinicius: “Toni is a phenomenon. He has very special vision of football. All that has to happen in the field is because Toni knows it. In training we make very good connections, we have known each other very well and then that is seen in the games.”
Vinicius on Benzema
Vinicius: “Benzema is the best in the world. He has a mastery of the game that is incredible. Always know what needs to be done.”
Vinicius on Ancelotti
Vinicius: “Ancelotti gives me a lot of advice and peace of mind when choosing the best option. I didn’t think it was possible to combine my speed and play to the limit with tranquility but the mister is teaching me that it is possible.”
He added: “Ancelotti has absolute control over big football and football in detail. It encompasses everything and training at your service is a daily lesson, or many daily lessons.”
Vinicius on whether he sees himself as a super star
Vinicius: “I don’t consider myself a star. This squad is full of Champions League winners and all possible titles. I’m not a star. Stars are Marce, Case, Luka, Nacho, Toni, Karim… I’m not a star next to them. I am a player who learns what he can from them.
Vinicius on deciding to join Real Madrid
Vinicius: “There wasn’t much to be done to convince me [to join Real Madrid]. It was always very clear to me that Real Madrid was my destiny.”
Vinicius: “I play without fear of the defenders. My way of playing was very cheerful and direct and people liked that very much.”
Vinicius: “I have already lived Champions League nights with Madrid but if we look closely at my story, this will be the most important. There were very nice nights for me but some were at the Di Stéfano without fans.”
Vinicius: “The support of our fans is going to be one of the keys, as if it were one more part of the tactic or one more player. PSG is a fantastic team and it’s not going to help us to play just a good game. We’re going to have to be more than good.”
