No player has scored more goals for Chelsea since Tuchel took charge than Havertz

Kai Havertz has now scored 13 goals since the appointment of Tuchel, which is more than any Chelsea player.

Havertz has scored just his second Premier League brace for Chelsea against Burnley with his first brace scoring against Fulham in May 2021.

After a 4-0 thrashing of Burnley, Chelsea put some distance between themselves and the race for the top four.

The ‘Blues’ maintained their excellent record in this match, having lost only one of their previous 16 Premier League meetings.

Chelsea were sluggish to get going at Turf Moor after a week of cup tussles against Liverpool and Luton, and Sean Dyche’s side had all of the best chances in a cagey first half in East Lancashire.

Wout Weghorst was set up by Aaron Lennon’s pull-back, but the Dutchman would have to wait for his first goal on home soil, as Thiago Silva saved his side with a goal-line clearance.

The ‘Clarets’ kept up the pressure, forcing an error from Edouard Mendy, who dropped a cross at the feet of Dwight McNeil, but the winger failed to strike the target for some reason.

Thomas Tuchel’s HT team talk definitely had an impact on his players, as they completely dominated the hosts in the second period, scoring three times in the first 10 minutes.

After being given much too much space inside the box, Reece James kicked off the goal glut with a precise finish.

Kai Havertz was the next to score, as the German ripped away from his back post marker to tip in a Christian Pulisic cross. For the third goal, James switched provider, picking out Havertz for a tap-in with a precise low cross, leaving Turf Moor dumbfounded.

Chelsea refused to put the handbrake on, adding a fourth goal after a costly error by James Tarkowski.

In attempting to intercept a cross from the left, the centre-back unwittingly handed Pulisic a tap-in.

The Blue’s dominant victory serves as a statement of intent as they look to secure the Premier League podium in the coming weeks.

Chelsea has now won three consecutive league games for the first time since October.
