With his contract set to expire next summer, Kylian Mbappe is thought to have turned down a blank-cheque renewal offer from Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG would have offered Mbappe a long-term contract worth more than 90 million euros gross, and it would have included a guarantee that PSG’s sporting project would remain competitive at the top level of European competition.
Last week, the two parties met at least once to work out the details, as PSG continues to strive to lock down their star player to a new contract.

The contract was said to be for another two years, with the catch being that, because of the club’s Qatari ownership, Mbappe will stay a PSG player for the Qatar World Cup later this year, but will have the option to leave after that.
The 23-year-old, though, continues to reject the offers.
Another factor to consider is the continuous strategic relationship between Qatar and France as a whole, which involves a significant amount of money and political clout, with President Emmanuel Macron playing a key role in this win-win cooperation.
Mbappe appears to be becoming an increasingly vital part of all of this, and his on-field performances – he has already been involved in 36 goals this season – have him closing in on the title of world’s finest player.
On March 9, a dominant second leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League may cement that.
Mbappe still has a strong attachment to PSG, and one of the reasons he wanted to leave last summer was so that the Parisians could acquire a large sum of money in exchange for him.
And for the time being, rather than pondering his own future, his top aim is progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals, and finally winning the trophy that his club craves more than any other – a season that would culminate in a highly successful season with the club he adores.
Real Madrid is visible in the distance.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, is said to admire Mbappe’s professionalism and believe he will make a decision soon.
They aren’t pressuring him in any way. On the contrary, they believe he has already been subjected to sufficient stress.
Mbappe’s pay at Real Madrid would be lower than at PSG. However, he is not motivated by money, and he will make the final decision.
