Manchester City extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches with a 2-0 win at Burnley on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been a little out of sorts at home of late, winning just one of their last three at the Etihad, though one of those was a 0-0 draw with Sporting CP having been 5-0 up on aggregate.

A 4-1 win over Alaves saw Atletico extend their winning run to six games, which includes a 1-0 victory on their last visit to Manchester as they beat City’s rivals United at Old Trafford last month.

This will be the first time City and Atleti lock horns in any competition.

Both teams are in good form in all competitions, but it’s City who may earn a first leg advantage on Tuesday.

Atlético’s João Félix boasts five goals in his last five competitive club appearances, three of which arrived in the opening 15 minutes.

Hot stat:

City have scored 2+ goals in ten of their last 11 designated UCL home matches.

Team News

Manchester City

Ruben Dias and Cole Palmer are Manchester City’s only confirmed absentees for the welcome of Atletico Madrid.

Kyle Walker serves the third of a three-man ban, with Joao Cancelo tipped to start at right-back.

Elsewhere, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez are both set to return to the starting XI here.

Atletico Madrid

Madrid have confirmed Jose Gimenez won’t travel to Manchester after coming off injured at the weekend.

Mario Hermoso was a doubt to face Alaves but did end up making the bench. He faces competition from Felipe to deputise for Gimenez.

Diego Simeone has a selection headache on his hands with Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann battling to partner the in-form Joao Felix up front.

Suarez came off the bench to bag a brace at the weekend and may be given the nod here.
