Explainer:Decisive Moment For Real Madrid Star Hazard As The Belgian Forward Could be sold.
Decisive Moment for Real Madrid star Hazard as transfer window looms, the Belgian forward could leave.
Lille OSC president Olivier Letang has not ruled out the possibility of signing Eden Hazard, who has struggled for playing time at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti so far this season.Hazard made his Lille debut back in 2007/08 and led the squad to a historic domestic double in 2011.When the Ligue 1 side won both the league title and the Coupe de France.
“Hazard back to Lille? It is not impossible,” Letang told L’Equipe Soir.
“I’ll go to Spain if necessary.
It may seem impossible. Obviously, Hazard is an incredible player with a lot of quality. Right now, he is a Real Madrid player and has a contract with that club.”
Hazard departed Lille in 2012 to join Chelsea, where he prospered before going to Real Madrid. For whom he has played just 55 games in two and a half seasons.
With Vinicius Junior being in terrific form so far this campaign.Hazard has started in just four LaLiga Santander games and a potential departure in January has not been ruled out by the club.
The Belgium international has played 400 minutes of football this season. And stepped on the pitch for just seven minutes in Real Madrid’s past four games.
The image of Eden Hazard on the Real Madrid bench is no longer an unusual one.Given that he’s spent 930 of the last 960 minutes on the bench.
That last time he started a game for Los Blancos was September 28, against Sheriff. Since then he has only played one hour across five outings, the longest being 21 minutes against Osasuna.
Having arrived to be one of the stars of LaLiga Santander, he hasn’t played since the 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano on November 6.
He looks distant from Ancelotti’s intentions after the coach made it plain that he was not at his best after five games, two of which he missed due to sickness.
COVID-19, on the other hand, has struck the Real Madrid squad, with Rodrygo Goes, Marco Asensio, and Gareth Bale all falling ill. Hazard will now be able to play alongside Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
When Rodrygo was ruled out early this season, it left a void on the right side of the attack.Which was frequently filled by Lucas Vazquez.
This puts him in his ideal position.Allowing Ancelotti to switch to a 4-4-2 formation with Fede Valverde or Eduardo Camavinga.
In the worst-case scenario, a youngster or perhaps Isco will be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Hazard’s problem is that he can’t play in his favored position on the left flank since Vincius has claimed it.
Hazard must play out of position. As he did against Sheriff at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, because Vinicius is nearly unstoppable.
This season, the Belgian has only featured on the left flank in attack against Alaves and Levante.
With his future uncertain,
Hazard’s future in the January transfer window will be a question if he does not fit into Ancelotti’s plans.
Lille, Hazard’s former club, has extended their doors to him as a temporary home until the conclusion of the season.
His possibilities at Real Madrid are limited due to the presence of Vinicius and maybe Kylian Mbappe in the future.
COVID-19 and a difficult schedule will force Ancelotti to make a team selection. The one involving Hazard could be the most intriguing of them.
Eden Hazard will start for Real Madrid against Cadiz in LaLiga on Sunday, according to manager Carlo Ancelotti.
It will be the first time the Belgian midfielder has started since Real’s 2-1 Champions League loss at home to Sheriff Tiraspol on Sept. 28.
Hazard’s selection, according to Ancelotti, has nothing to do with Real’s six-player absence due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the club.
“He’ll get the start, but not because of the players who won’t be able to play.
He did a good job and did not modify his mindset.” Ancelotti made the announcement at a press conference on Saturday.
Hazard has not started a LaLiga match since a 2-1 win at Valencia on Sept. 19. He has yet to finish a game this season.
“He kept his motivation, trained hard, and earned the opportunity to play.” As the league leaders prepare for a trip to third-bottom Cadiz, Ancelotti added.
“The first half of the season has been awful for him because it has been really good for Vinicius Jr and (Karim) Benzema… and I preferred to have (Marco) Asensio and Rodrygo up front on the right (and) interchange between them.”
Along with Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Marcelo, and Andriy Lunin, Asensio and Rodrygo are among Real’s six first-team players who tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
Modric, who tested positive on Wednesday, was negative on Friday. But he will remain in quarantine until he no longer exhibits symptoms.
“Modric is has a fever, and will not play. We’ll have to assess his situation further…” Ancelotti said his son, Real’s assistant coach Davide, who is the club’s seventh case this week, is “well and at home.”
Benzema, who is still recovering from a left leg muscle injury, is “feeling very well” and “will play” against Cadiz on Sunday, according to Ancelotti. Cadiz has only two wins this season.
Real is eight points ahead of Sevilla, who has a game in hand, and nine points ahead of Real Betis.
