Aston Villa vs Manchester United Premier League 2022 Match Prediction,Injuries/Suspension, Match Facts, Team News, Preview and Where to Watch.
Aston Villa have an immediate chance to gain revenge on Manchester United after Monday’s contentious 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford in which they had two goals disallowed.
Having lost three competitive games in a row for just the second time in his senior managerial career.
These are testing times for new Villa boss Steven Gerrard, whose side still hover above the bottom-five.
Though he’ll hope new arrivals Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho can help them move further away from the relegation zone as the season continues.
More positively, Villa have scored in all nine of their home league games this term.
Also doing so in last term’s corresponding fixture – though they eventually lost 3-1.
The ‘Villians’ have failed to net a home league goal inside the opening ten minutes however, so a quick start is unlikely.
Yet with 67% of their PL goals (10) this term at Villa Park falling after half-time, they usually finish strong.
Amid rumours of discontent, Manchester United’s results – if not their performances – are doing the talking.
With one defeat in ten competitive matches (W6, D3). They’re well placed to not only push for European qualification but to extend their run of not losing a PL H2H here since 1995 (W15, D7).
Another victory in this clash would also see the visitors make history by becoming the first PL side to win 300 away matches.
Scoring exactly two-thirds (20) of their league goals after half-time this season.
That trend could continue here given the fact that across each of their last four league away games, their only goals came after the break (W1, D2, L1).

Danny Ings’ goal for Aston Villa against Brentford was his fourth PL goal of the season and third consecutive match-opener.
While Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has scored three penalties in four PL appearances versus Villa.
Hot stat
Villa have lost all seven PL games this campaign in which they’ve trailed at half-time.
Team News
Aston Villa Steven
Gerrard says Philippe Coutinho is not match fit following his move from Barcelona so may only make his Aston Villa debut from the bench against old foe Manchester United on Saturday.
It will be interesting to see where Gerrard plays his former Liverpool team-mate, whether in a midfield diamond or in attack alongside Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia.
It is likely we will see both during the course of the season.
Villa are actually a little light in midfield this weekend with John McGinn suspended and Marvelous Nakamba injured so Gerrard will certainly be tempted to unleash Coutinho from the start in a 4-3-1-2 formation.
Morgan Sanson is the alternative but his Villa career has just not got going.
Lucas Digne was announced as an Aston Villa player on Thursday morning following a move from Everton and Gerrard will seriously ponder a full debut for him with Matt Targett out of form.
Apart from being involved in two disallowed goals, Danny Ings was mainly on the periphery again on Monday night.
Ashley Young remains a doubt to face his former club, while young talent Jaden Philogene-Bidace will only return to training on Monday due to a hip problem.
Manchester United
Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are both suspended for Manchester United due to an accumulation of bookings. Ralf Rangnick has confirmed he expects Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones to be fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday after injury ruled them out last time around.
Harry Maguire has missed United’s last two through injury but was able to train on Thursday and should return to partner Raphael Varane here.
Diogo Dalot is hoping to be available on Saturday despite picking up a nasty gash on his ankle at the start of the week.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka may come back in anyway.
Rangnick believed Donny van de Beek’s introduction and the change to a diamond formation gave United more control on Monday night so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him start with it here.
Paul Pogba is a long-term absentee and Eric Bailly is away at AFCON with the Ivory Coast.
Match Facts
Man Utd are undefeated in 35 of their last 38 matches against Aston Villa in all competitions. Man Utd are undefeated in 33 of their last 35 away matches (Premier League).
There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Aston Villa’s last 7 home games (Premier League).
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Man Utd’s last 3 away games (Premier League).
Prediction
Aston Villa have now lost three matches in a row under Steven Gerrard though the performance in general was once again encouraging in defeat, this time to Manchester United on Monday night.
Gerrard will be desperate to get one over on United here and the atmosphere at Villa Park should be electric given the way Monday’s match unfolded at Old Trafford.
United looked better offensively against Villa but were once again all over the place at the back.
The players still don’t look fully invested in Ralf Rangnick’s pressing game the absence of Scott McTominay in midfield, who is the one player that looks on it under the German, could prove massive for the away side.
It’s only one defeat in 10 for United and they haven’t lost a Premier League game at Villa Park since 1995 but they just aren’t convincing in the slightest.
If Villa can actually take the chances they create, they there is no reason why they can’t inflict more misery on Rangnick on Saturday night.
